About

I am based in beautiful West Wales on Cardigan Bay where there is a resident group of bottlenose dolphins. My local work, which includes cards and prints of West Wales scenery and wildlife, can be seen in The Custom House shop in Cardigan.

I have had a passionate interest in dolphins for most of my life. In addition to giving my support to various UK dolphin charities, I have been a volunteer at dolphin centres and participated in dolphin research projects throughout the world. I have integrated my photography experience with my understanding of dolphins to produce the photos you see on these pages. With this website I hope to promote the awareness of dolphins found around the UK coast and worldwide and, in turn, encourage the conservation and protection of these amazing animals. I have also included some of my other favourite wildlife and nature photos.

All of the dolphin pictures on this website are of wild dolphins, taken in their natural environment. I strive to be as unintrusive as possible and either take photos from land, such as Chanonry Point in Scotland, or try to use good quality boat operators who follow the dolphin watching code of conduct (which means not chasing or harassing the dolphins). Apart from the “At the zoo” collection all of the other wildlife photos are, again, taken in the wild.

Dolphins are captivating to watch and fun (and demanding) to photograph. In my photos I try to capture the moments you might miss when watching the dolphins - they can be so active sometimes that it’s hard to know where to look! If you have been lucky enough to see dolphins in the wild I hope that my photos will evoke the emotions you felt when watching them. Perhaps you will remember the noise of people squeeling with delight or shouting in amazement as the dolphins erupt in a burst of speed or leap clean out of the water. Or maybe, like me, you have had a wonderful encounter when all is quiet and the dolphins are just travelling and all you can hear is the occasional blow as they surface for breath. Even if you have never seen a dolphin before I hope that my pictures reflect how intelligent, inquisitive and playful they can be and I hope you enjoy them.
